WebEdmund Husserl werd geboren in 1859 in Proßnitz in Moravië (nu Prostejov, Tsjechië). Van 1876 tot 1878 studeerde hij wiskunde, natuurkunde en sterrenkunde in Leipzig. In 1878 schreef hij zich in aan de universiteit van Berlijn waar hij zijn wiskunde studies doorzette. Hier begon Husserl echter ook meer geïnteresseerd te raken in de filosofie.
