($60.00 ) All my other cymbals are the Paiste line, and I have wanted to switch to Paiste hats but the cost has been holding me back. I know that the 3000 series were the precursors to the 2002 line but thats where my knowledge of them ends. Then in 1989 Paiste released the Sigs made from a new alloy which looked virtually the same as the 3000s. The 2000s received less workmanship than the 3000s but are fine cymbals …

WebJul 10, 2008 · Back in the 80's and 90's, Paiste had the 1000, 2000, and 3000's. The 1000's were entry level. The 2000's were mid-line, and the 3000's were the top-of-the-lines!! When they stopped making them, they came out with the Signature series as their top-line. They had different hammering and what would become known as Signature lathing (they were sort of a cross between a Sig & 2002). They also had a wider frequency range than the 2002s. I have a 22" 3000 Power ride, a 22" 3000 RUDE Power Ride and a 20" 3000 China (the only real China sounding cymbal Paiste ever made). 3000s are basically 2oo2 cymbals with Signature style lathing.
